Digital Forensics
Cyber Incident Response & Digital Evidence Management
From breach to courtroom — evidence that holds.
Course Abstract
This intensive three-day investigative course equips forensic examiners, cyber investigators, and auditors with the advanced technical methodologies required to dissect sophisticated cyberattacks, uncover hidden indicators of compromise, and manage the complete lifecycle of digital evidence. Moving beyond basic incident triage, participants dive deep into forensic acquisition, memory analysis, reverse engineering fundamentals, and the rigorous chain-of-custody protocols mandatory for criminal and civil litigation. Blending NIST SP 800-61, ISO/IEC 27035, and strict forensic frameworks with Zimbabwean legal compliance (including the Cyber and Data Protection Act), this course utilizes Masc’s state-of-the-art Digital Forensics Lab to simulate real-world cybercrime, ransomware extortion, and data exfiltration syndicates.
learning Outcomes
- Prepare digital evidence and forensic reports to support legal and regulatory proceedings.
- Perform deep disk, memory, and file system artifact analysis to reconstruct threat actor timelines, lateral movement, and data exfiltration vectors.
- Detect and dismantle sophisticated anti-forensic techniques, including timestomping, rootkits, process injection, and encrypted storage concealment.
- Investigate complex cyber-fraud syndicates, ransomware deployment mechanisms, and Business Email Compromise (BEC) networks with absolute evidentiary integrity.
- Maintain an unassailable, legally defensible chain of custody from initial seizure to final digital evidence storage.
- Draft comprehensive, forensic-grade investigation reports structured to withstand aggressive legal cross-examination.
- Testify effectively as a qualified digital forensics expert witness in judicial and regulatory proceedings
